Indocin was the line of defense other than aspirin and gold injections for Rheumatoid Artithtis in the 1970's.

At that time there some researchers who thought that RA was caused by a virus as some people had been ill with flu like symptoms prior to being diagnosed.

So a new use for an older medicine.
