IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1997--Wonderware Corp. (NASDAQ: WNDR) Thursday announced the signing of a global licensing agreement with Western Digital Corp. (NYSE: WDC) that standardizes the use of Wonderware's InTrack production management software in Western Digital's hard drive manufacturing facilities worldwide.
Wonderware's InTrack is a PC LAN-based, object oriented, client/server software tool that allows companies to model and track every step of a factory's production operations, from raw materials to finished goods, with Windows-based point-and-click ease. InTrack enables companies to manage, control and improve their manufacturing process at a fraction of the cost of competitive systems in both time and resources.
Furthermore, InTrack's modular architecture means that users can set up production management functionality in one area of plant operations and scale it to encompass an entire manufacturing plant in parallel with the customer's growth, according to Joe Cowan, Wonderware vice president of sales and marketing.
"This strategic licensing agreement with Western Digital clearly establishes Wonderware as the world's leading supplier of MES automation software to the disk drive manufacturing industry," Cowan said.
"It's a perfect partnership of a world class manufacturing company and state-of-the-art production management and resource tracking software."
"Western Digital standardized on the use of Wonderware's InTrack product in its worldwide disk drive operations because of InTrack's state-of-the-art, graphical application development tools, which enable us to rapidly implement an integrated real-time factory data management system with minimal resources," stated Russell Stern, vice president of Western Digital.
"The extensive capability and flexibility of the system will allow us to service our customers better by decreasing our response time in meeting their specific data storage needs."
