The Milken article is pretty much correct in its conclusion. Mike was (over-)charged with 96 felony counts. He pled to four to save himself from the threat of life imprisonment. Giuliani is a stage promoter, anything to make a headline, wright or wrong, he "makes" no moral judgment.

BUT the real reason Milken was popped is that he had the audacity to steal business from the banks. Here a bank is just about ready to seize all the assets of some company, and Milken INVENTS junk bonds.

This is not the place to go into how junk bonds work, but sufficient to say, Milken was a friggin' legal and financial genius.

In all the years of his running the Junk, less that 1% EVER defaulted.

WHAT YOU ARE MISSING:

Boesky, Enron, etc... If you let the government try to solve your personal problems they will do it 5 years too late and get one out of 10,000 perps and then only the ones that the major campaign contributors want.

Private actions for securities violations have been outlawed. So what you get is showboat cases, years late and politically motivated.

No wonder the Chinese are beating our ass.
