Walters ask about Judith Nathan's two previous marriages indicating that it was not public knowledge that she had been married three times. Walters was indicating that Nathan may have hidden this fact. Nathan said it was never hidden that she had not been ask publicly until now. After the second divorce, Nathan was left with her young daughter to raise as a single mother. Daughter is now in college. It was obvious that she is very much in love with Guiliani and ready to give him 100% supoort. She saw him through the health crisis with the prostate cancer diagnosis. He is now cancer free. Interview cuts to Guiliani entering--------now both on stage Walters ask Guiliani if Judith Nathan was the cause of his marriage breakup Guiliani declared absolutely not. Walters tried to pursue the reasons for the breakup and Guiliani would not let her pry into what he considers a private family matter. Guiliani highlighted fact that Judith was with him on the streets of New York during 9/11. She coordinated health services with hospitals that day. Walters ask about the role Judith will have in his campaign-----his response--- as much as she wants. Also, ask if she would be welcome at cabinet meetings------again he responded she would be welcome. She indicated she would attend especially on the subjects she was interested in such as health care. Walters alluded to Guiliani's adult children not being a part of the campaign. No real discussion on this. Judith Nathan also has a daughter who is in college. Showed pictures of Guiliani's adult children with him and a picture of Nathan's daughter as a very young child (beautiful). Walters ask an unmemorable question about the Christian Right such as would his marriages deter their support. Guiliani did not answer and went to what he did in New York . my reaction The interview got the marriage questions out of the way----so now the naysayers can chew over this for awhile and Guiliani can get on with the campaign. Divorce is common in the United States. Many people have been married twice and some three times--including people whom the press refers to as the Christian Right, whomever they be. Considering every candidate has controversey regarding family in their private lives whether in this generation or their parents generation this may end up not a big factor. Nathan needs some coaching in how to handle herself in a political interview----------think she will grow into that, improve with experience. She did not let Barbara unsettle her. Presidental candidates wives or husband's definitely have impact on how people view the candidate. IMO we saw that in the 2004 election with Thereasa Heinz not being an asset to Kerry.
