Cancer Drug Prices Continue to Soar

If you come down with cancer you have better have health insurance or be prepared to go bankrupt or die..

The cancer treatment has become so expensive that unless you are very poor,well-insured or covered by Medicare you will miss out on the latest breakthroughs.

The FDA just approved a new drug for breast cancer. TYKERB is an exciting advance because is improves survival rates in women with aggressive breast tumors that no longer respond to the standard treatments.

The problem. The medication costs $ 2.900 a month and has to be given with another medication called XELODA that can run
another $ 1.500 a month.

According to an analysis by Greeta Anand of the Wall Street Journal the kidney cancer drug SUTENT can cost $ 46.500
for the average patient.

ERBITUX for colorectal cancer can cost $ 10.000 a month or $40.000 for a course of treatment.

Such medicines are prolonging life far more effectively than classic chemo. Often they are better tolerated too.

I posted this so some of you might have access to the new medications..
