Unfortunately treating prisoners badly is going to have zero effect on the non-state actors in Al Qaeda. So not only would such a move tarnish us, it would tarnish us for no logical reason.

I certainly understand that people in this country can react illogically, but I'm not going to be one to champion it. I'll leave that to you, I guess.
