ALL; I just picked up the latest copy of PC World magazine and it has some interesting benchmark tests . The higher the number the better.
1) Gateway P200MMX (chosen because its a top performer) 239
2) Average PentiumII 233 248
3) Average Pentium II 266 261
4) Best Pentium II 300 tested 272

This is not much of a performance improvement. The article also mentioned that AGP will not help until software is written
specifically to take advantage of AGP. Many buyers will think they are getting a 50% faster machine when they go from a P200 to a PII 300, but eventually word will spread that the improvement is less than 14 %, and the PII300 costs maybe 70% more. Not too smart a buy unless you are in to graphics. This is why I'm not sanguine about any big price run up in INTC in the next several months. Othert benchmark tests I have seen have had results in the same ballpark range.
