>>Cancer Drug Prices Continue to Soar<<

Suma -

Ain't it the truth? When I was on chemo, they gave me an anti-nausea drug that costs fifty bucks a pill. You only have to take one a day, but that's crazy.

A couple of days ago I finally dealt with the pile of bills from my cancer treatments. I hadn't really had the strength or will to deal with them before. I must say that I am very glad I made the decision to keep my insurance through COBRA after I left my last job.

Between chemotherapy, radiation therapy, various Dr. visits, two surgeries with hospital stays, anesthesiologists, and prescriptions, my bills totaled well over two hundred thousand dollars. Close to a quarter of a million.

I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't been insured. I certainly wouldn't have been treated at Cedars Sinai, and wouldn't have enjoyed the very high level of care I received throughout this experience. I can just imagine how the additional stress of worrying about the cost would have affected my progress.

Even with the insurance it was expensive. But now that I've hit my out-of-pocket maximum for this year already, I'm thinking about what else I might want to have done.
