George, I have to agree with you about government trying to recify it. They did a helluva job with Lyndon Johnson's new Society. It was probably the worst social engineering fiasco of this century. The perceived inequities cannot be recified by legislature,it must be recified by those who are in the corporate offices of American industry. Al Dunlop may have a point about cutting employees, but his brazen lack of respect for them, and his huge option bonuses, leave a sour taste in worker's mouths. Mike Eisner taking a huge bonus is another example, while he prices Disney World out of the reach of average working men and women's ability to pay. Now,what might change this,is that corporations need consumption, and they may price themselves out of the market. There is a large underground component in our society, and most industrialized nations. Our Congress sees fit to put in special interest loopholes, and write a tax code, that no one can understand. The IRS has absolute power, which due to human nature, and some unscrupulous politians has been abused. Statism destroyed many a nations future, look at Argentina, for example(now it is privatizing). What we need are morals and ethics from the top of corporations down, you cannot legislate that. Hiram |
