TJ The US is the result of a 150-year old set of circumstances. Profited immensely by using these set of circumstances to its own benefit. Those circumstances started changing by 1965. For the past 40 years the country has been adapting its model (more on models below) to those changes of circumstances. Only on the last 15 years those changes became sharper and more visible. But not visible to a point to be perceived by the masses. In the next 15 years those changes start become visible to the masses. It is at this point that the government of the US starts acting as if those circumstances are disappearing. Even thought its known -by the intelligentsia that the circumstances have disappeared 40 years ago. In short: countries follow models. Models are not by design but result of a set of circumstances. Once the circumstances start changing, the models do not change, as it goes, there is a delay and that delay is sought by governments to slow the pace of change. The country sticks to that original model, thus they slowly wither away. Once that change of circumstances become sharp and no longer can be disguised, governments start to act as if the circumstances have changed for real. I'm applying this to the US but that is applied to all countries in the world. Opportunists -all over the world- seek power by monitoring closely how the government is reacting. If they find a weakness that they sell to the masses they try to have a go at it. Either democratically, with a new program and new twist, by force or by manouvering the masses. That's the case of the opportunists behind the clerical rising in Iran. They found a weakness in the Shah's policies -or grand design- and exploited to take over. This can't be applied to the US. There is too much memory of success and against success there's no argumentation. That is why the two political parties are so alike. There's no room to pull the carpet under the feet of the other party since, they cannot come out with a better alternative. Just keep quiet and do not disturb the status quo too much else the masses will start having a grip on the real issues. A US citizen today -who is very well educated- or who has gazillions, is already devising strategies )mental or real) on to how he should react in 10 to 15 years time once the cracks on the model become apparent. If those cracks in the model do not affect him, he will not react in anyway. If the cracks point to him to be on the lose end, he will make a move. See Jim Rogers dissociates himself from the US. Guys at that stratum know that the going is no longer going to be good for him. Another case in point -still at that stratum- George Soros: He wants to have Obama as president to be able to control I tried to cover too much in asingle short posting but I think you'll be able to fill the blanks and apply elsewhere.
