The guy with the truckload of mobile phones was arrested because he looked Middle Eastern and in Iraq they use cell phones to set off IEDs, so it wasn't about free trade or capitalism, it was about terrorism. I've interacted online with people who supported the arrests -- they're woefully ignorant and always will be.

In the meantime, the guy was let go, and law enforcement officers all over the country were informed that it's not against the law to buy cell phones in bulk. That won't stop the woefully ignorant, but against stupidity the Gods themselves contend in vain.

Speaking of stupidity -- a tariff on glossy paper isn't exactly the return of international trade barriers. Glossy paper isn't exactly the backbone of the Chinese economy. The Chinese seem to violently over-react over trivial matters. Makes them look silly.
