Qualcomm on defensive, and Nokia has no risk?

How can Nokia think they can be taken seriously, with the well documented progression of their position as: (1) statements that CDMA cannot work, (2) concession that CDMA may work, but that its performance is overstated, (3) introduction of a "different" type of CDMA, one which will contain many numbers of (nonessential but) patented technologies.

Obvioulsy businesses are always playing games of this sort to ensure they maintain an upper hand in the market. And Nokia cannot be faulted for wanting to maintain the uneven playing field it enjoyed in 2G where new entrants (e.g., asian handset makers) had to pay significantly higher royalties than did Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, etc....

This said, it seems we are entering a phase where FACTS are gaining in importants, and political and anticompetitive coopreration among select competitors will mean less and less.

I would think it would be Nokia that should be more worried about there being a giant hole punched in its business model.
