but do also recall that gold 20x'ed in the '70s, 20x the 2001 $250 bottom is $10,000, and total anarchy and chaos all over the globe did not occur in 1980 or thereafter.

I do not think TJ is talking about a short term spike though like happened in the 70's, but a more permanent and lasting "floor" of 10K per ounce, perhaps all he means is a short term spike though. I believe if gold goes to 10K per ounce as a relatively stable "floor" that we are going to see social upheavel on a very grand scale. To be clear I mean an ounce of gold selling for 10K an ounce for at minimum a year.

Bart what do you think would have happened had the gubbment allowed the hunt brothers to corner the silver market? Why intervene in the free market and not allow them to hoard the metal?
