Your post gave me a chill. Literally. How very sad... I know that there is at least one person who has had mastectomy and been caner free and I am sure she will respond to your post. Lately I have been reading that an MRI does a better job than a Mammogram.. And the person reading the mammogram has to be top drawer too. I will check around with my friends who have had BC to see if I can learn anything to contribute to your question... I have three friends who had mastectomies when they were very young.. I say that because now they are in their seventies.. They are survivors. In Boone every summer they have a Walk for Life event that goes on in a park for two days. The park has a round paved walk and one night candles are lighted for everyone who has succumbed... You light it for a friend.. and pay something for cancer research .. The whole ceremony broke me up so much the first time I went that I have not gone back.. Then there is a walk for cancer survivors.. You should see those who have survived.. Little kids... mothers, grandmothers..... all walking around this circle.. Just writing about it gives me joy and then sorrow for I have lost so many friends in the past 10 years .. ALL to the big C... From cervical cancer,breast cancer and biggest of all LUNG CANCER. But we all were smokers.. Big time. It was the thing to do.. I did it but never got hooked.. Thank you for coming to this thread.
