It wasn't up to Clinton to determine what is material to the matter and what isn't. The matter was indeed "material" until much, much later.

Besides, why would Clinton then employ the "statement of interpretation" defense? "It all depends on what your definition of 'is' is." He knew he was caught in a lie under oath, so he tried to pretend that he didn't know it was a lie.

Of course, you could also argue that OJ isn't guilty of murder ...
