No I mean the crash of 87 (Black Monday in Oct). In single trading day, Dow dropped over 25% and Nasdaq over 30%. Imagine that today?

Margin limits were 100% instead of 50% of today.

Margins were reduced to 50% and other stops (going to manual trading after 500 pt drop, etc.) were instituted after the bloody day.

Funny that they would send western Union telegrams for margin calls. Also your house was not even protected from the creditors then.

And no internet. You were completely at the mercy of your broker.
