I think giving the Afghani government complete control of the growing of Opium, and an agency to sell the poppies to drug companies is a fabulous idea. Before you know it we will have to provide aid for the farmers to support the growing of even the amount we need, much less having any left over for addicts. It would provide fabulous jobs for all the relatives of every government official without a job, incomes for innumerable families and if we are lucky, much like when the the russians ran their wheat farms, almost no crops. Government control might actually solve the Heroin problem in the world.
