To what extent has the media, and the internet been a facilitator of terrorism ?

I some what believe that the instant magnification of any crime by the media and the internet, leads to international publicity, glorification and "copycat crimes " almost immediately.

Here in the US we seem to be very vulnerable to copycat crimes. I don't think its much different elsewhere.
