OK denizens of the wireless revolution and other ragtag naboobs on the four leg variety, Marv Albert not welcome; the WorldCom/MCI maybe buyout is interesting to those that own CLEC's, ROBC's and LD companies.

The reason I say that, look at WorldCom's portfolio. Sure wireless would be and might be there final piece to offer the consumer, but I think they aren't interested...yet!! This deal will allow them to control 60% of the Internet....I'll say that again...this deal allows them to control 60% of the Internet. It also gives them a WHOLE lot of fiber. Wether the Fed and Mother Bell allows this, remains to be seen. Why Mother Bell? She even whispers buying a company judges, lawyers and regulators breakout the barber pole and start singing denials in four part harmony. She'll be working the floors of Congress to allow her the right to buy some prized pieces (my favorite is GTE). The fact they will control 60% of the Net may kill this deal.

I don't think they are interested in the wireless world and with the two recent acquisition might tap them out. This company has losses ans debt already enough, BEFORE this deal. It's one to watch, as it fits into my gut feeling and that special flea whispering in my ear that consolidation amongst the telco's, both wire and wireless is in the offering. I also maintain that there will be some consolidation of manufacturing. Yes QCOM could be acquired or start their own acquiring (not out of the realm of possibility).
