Randy:
Thank you very much for telling me obout this thread. This is Immunityman. I asked my 7 y/o for a name and Oliver & Co. sounded good.
I have been reading all the postings over the past 2 days. This is really an interesting place, with many smart people. To place this in some perspective. As you know I am an M.D. who specializes in HIV. In fact I am the head of a small group. I am an Internist, but about 7 years ago I went into HIV treatment full force. My two partners are ID specialists, and we practice in Miami. So basically I am the only real Primary Care. I bought AGPH after very carefully looking at it.
As I wrote in the Fool; a year ago (Oct 96) I attended the HIV speakers forum (only invited are those who specialize in HIV). At that meeting we discussed not only what was already in the market, but what was coming. Even the products that are still today in the pipeline.
We knew that not only we did not have a cure, but that the PIs were just a step forward. Surely they are good, when used in combo. But they fail, and they fail a lot.
We all must remember that real life is not the lab, or even a good study. All these drugs have side effects, and the dosing is horrendous. All patients have to make changes in their behavior, and life styles. But I guarantee you, that 99.99% will skip doses. And resistance will appear sooner or later.
We can not expect that Viracept, or any of the drugs in medicine will be there forever,(even aspirin use has gone down)
The facts are that Viracept (when you look at everything) is the best PI in the market today (ask my patients with kidney problems).
And is not going to be until sometime in mid 1998, that another PI will come. Until then we must play with the 11 drugs we currently have.
Just because some dumb (or maybe smart as John W says), anal-yst
decides to drop the stock (my broker told me yesterday this guy was looking at future Viracept earnigs up to the year 2002) is no reason to worry. I think Auguron is a good co. they have great technology, they have a pipeline of drugs on the way, I am sure they already have the compound isolated for rhinovirusm, and the stock will be back up after the Jewish holiday.
I understand that 53% of the stock is Institutional.
So I shall take the opportunity and buy calls tomorrow.

Thank you again.
