GROW U.S. Global Investors profiled in New America section of IBD (30.00 ) IBD reports U.S. Global Investors has built up expertise trading in both emerging mkts and commodities like gold. It runs a family of no-load mutual funds focused mainly on this specialty. Its World Precious Minerals Fund this year won the Lipper Fund Award for best gold fund. Its Global Resources Fund won another Lipper award for top returns in natural resources over the past five years. Funds focused on China, Eastern Europe and emerging mkts have been top performers. Recent performance has attracted plenty of capital to the co's funds. At the end of 2006, it was managing $4.53 bln in its mutual funds. At the end of 2005, assets under mgmt were $2.83 bln.
