In-house, we're saying the "SI Guys" were out shopping for Easter clothes.

The logo is really only meaningful to the "old guard" and that includes Dave and I just as much as anyone else. We'd recognize the logo more quickly than the name, I think.

As we add content courtesy of our parent company (that's a good thing, right? -- I still remember how vilified we were when we took out Portfolios and Charts) we're becoming more sensitive to the issue of "screen real estate". Simplicity and feature-richness makes for a really tough balancing act and we've always leaned strongly toward simplicity and since one of our top priorities right now is to attract new users, we thought losing the SI Guys (who are meaningless to the new users who are our future) would visually simplify the screen.

Due to the outpouring of support for the Guys and our in-house soft spot for them in our own hearts, we got together and tried to work out how we could best afford the space they use, and I like the outcome quite a lot.

And don't let the above lead anyone to think we don't value "the old guard". We do. Immensely! We wouldn't be treading water without our long-time faithful. But treading water is really all SI has been doing for a long time while iHub and our other siblings all over the planet are experiencing growth that ranges between impressive and stunning.

So we've been beefing up our infrastructure and content to attract the new members who will get this boat floating and hopefully planing.

On a related subject, I strongly like the relocation of the Search inputs. That's a big empty space up there (free members see ads there) and the Search inputs looked really awkward up there.

We've got plans for that space and I'm trying to bring them to fruition as soon as possible. I think they'll be VERY well-liked.
