It is a well known fact that to get full performance benefits from the P II, you will need the 440 BX chipset, which will not be out until next spring. The 440 LX chipset, released around the first of Sept., is an intermediate, but not final, step. It is likely that none of the machines tested had either, relying on older TX chipsets that are significantly inferior. It's a fact of life, progress is incremental. But since most of these are probably replacement/additonal purchases, the real question is not how does one current leader compare to another, but rather how does it compare to the customer's CURRENT computer, or to significantly less expensive competiton. For example, how would these numbers compare to my non-MMX P-166 in a VX motherboard ? Or to a MediaGX ? Or to a K-6 166 or 200 ? Those comparisons might be MUCH more favorable.
