IT Security

In 1997, a small team of software developers had created a number of security solutions using an encryption algorithm more powerful than anything else commercially available. This small company was struggling to commercialize its products and needed financial and managerial assistance. Principals of the fund developed a complete and comprehensive business plan that would grow the business, finance its growth, and turn this small development company into a going concern. By 1999, Jawz had grown to 300 employees, went public and reached a market capitalization of more than $1.1 billion. The seed investment group invested $500,000 and received a total return of $12 million within an 18-month period. The Company eventually sold off a number of its business units prior to winding up in 2001 during the technology collapse of the early 2000s. The angel investment group received its profits two years prior to any deterioration in the technology market.
