I tried that once (cutting my winners). Last year I bought $4,000 worth of Intel calls, and took my $8000 profit and was happy. Of course, if I had held to term the profit would have been about $60,000. <G>

If you are buying options, you need to let some run because you need that occasional big profit to cover the many losses you will have because most of the time you will lose. If you are selling options in many cases it is a good idea to take profits though.
