*OT* Maurice, your demography statements are true and are an interest of mine. I am always thinking about how to profit from demographic trends.
I agree with your self-described "rants" for the most part except...

"In hot climates, hot food won't be such an issue and you might prefer cool vegetable-based food rather than hot steaks and French Fries, or Freedom Fries, with hydrogenated fats. So your cyberphone won't need to cook your meal."

I was recently in Brazil.
While it is true that I saw a lot of fresh fruit being eaten, it was very difficult to get a fresh green salad anywhere. Salad usually consisted of a few leaves (if you were lucky) and a LOT of cheese.
The snack of choice on the beach was fried cheese. Guys come around swinging a crozier and deep fry your selection of cheese in front of you. Yummy stuff, by the way.
Pizza joints are absolutely everywhere.
My conclusion - Brazilians love their cheese!

In the Middle East, I see EVERYONE eating greasy pizza, McWoofs, Buggery King and the like. Fast food is the order of the day all over the place. The Arabs are fat people.

India has an abysmal diet. Tons of saturated fats and they are almost as obese (as a nation) as us North Americans.

In theory, your "hot climate" thought is a good one. In practice, I am afraid human nature takes over and us humans like taste and covenience above all else. Fats are tasty!

The above holds true for populated areas. Rural places world-wide tend to have healthier diets.

Give me fresh papaya and a nice green salad any day!
