Here's the scene...
You're living in a shack made of rags. Everyday, around 10:30 in the morning, a band of Arab militiamen rides through your "village" to rape your womenfolk, eat your food, steal whatever medicine and supplies you might have, and shoot dead any man who dare confront them.
What would you rather see in the next truckload of humanitarian relief?
A. A television news personality from Boston
or
B. A crate of AK-47's or SKS rifles with 10,000 rounds of ammo
The worst part of all of this is it's not the just the usual suspects, pushing their leftist brand of feel-good, do-nothing gibberish.
The Bush administration's ambivalence over its next steps to take on Sudan sums up the overall handling on the crisis.
On one hand, President Bush has been very vocal in denouncing the atrocities in Sudan. Still, the administration has failed to come up with any cohesive plan to stop it.
What say you give the people being murdered and raped the means to defend themselves, so that they're not, um, murdered and raped? And, pleeeeease, all you so-called compassionate liberal types, spare me all of your self-righteous "cycle of violence" bullshit.
We should be aggressively promoting such a cycle - allowing the defenseless victims of genocide to respond to this systematic, predatory violence with an equal, if not greater than, measure of defensive violence.
This is a no-brainer of monumental proportion.
Therefore, we can expect little action of this nature coming from Washington anytime soon.
