Which type of replacement is she having?

There is the old type, coming in from the side, and the new type, coming in from the top of the thigh/hip, and there is also the minimally invasive type.

My mom had two hip surgeries- she had to go in a nursing home for 5 months with the first one (she was late 70's). Now that was the old style, and it was a broken hip. She had to have a lot of therapy, and then use a walker. I know people who have had the newer surgery and been up and around in about 3 months.
