i remember first grade Christmas i told mom there wasn't a santa claus.. that was dumb. next year no more santa, but i got a jacket for school,, and at easter i got the pants, in the fall the shoes. g birthday was a new shirt.

never felt deprived , christmas was one toy, i still remember the wooden dog, big long felt ears, and it made a noise as you pulled it a long. and one year a cap pistol like gene audrey's. of course cap pistols are politically incorrect for kids these days but we sure had fun back then playing cowboys, or war. somehow i don't remember linking up playing war or cowboys with murder, or getting trained to be muggers, or thieves later in life. it was just a fun time.
