(BRL.N: Quote, Profile , Research) said its unit initiated a patent challenge for Sanofi-Aventis U.S. LLC's (SASY.PA: Quote, Profile , Research) insomnia drug Ambien CR. Barr had filed its abbreviated new drug application with the regulators for its generic version of the drug in December 2006. On April 5, Sanofi-Aventis filed suit in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey to prevent Barr from proceeding with the commercialization of its product, Barr said in a statement.
