Lars, as you well know, most countries have their own motor vehicle safety standards, some being more stringent than others. Likewise for machine guarding, consumer product safety, drug and medical device approvals, and most other safety engineering disciplines. Such safety concerns fall inherently within the sovereign "police powers" of nations, as well as their responsibilities to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of their citizens. Do you seriously suggest that mandating GSM and DVB-H, rather than allowing the best technologies to be determined by market forces (once wireless telecom and mobile tv were feasible),are in any meaningful way comparable?
