There seem to be some institutions that specialize in certain forms of cancer. A very close friend who got diagnozed with leukemia was given an hour by a local cancer specialist to decide whether he wanted to go to John Hopkins or Shands in Gainesville, as they specialized in the particular form of leukemia he was diagnosed with (it appears highly likely he will enjoy a complete recovery).
