The problem with Lomborg is that he wanted to ignore local conditions and look at things globally. Al Gore & company are correct to point out that many humans will suffer, and given the history of human global cooperation, I seriously doubt that those doing well are going to equitably compensate those who get harmed. Lomborg was unrealistic to think this would happen. So while in general, I think humans will fair ok, at least as a species, individually the story can be quite different.

I've posted before that I would happily accept sitting back and doing nothing about CO2 if liability was associated with current actions. Hence I'd be happy with replacing all things like Kyoto with liability accounting by those producing the problem. Then let lawsuits in the future handle global redress if any. Unfortunately, those yelling the loudest against Kyoto want nothing to do with being responsible for their actions. Which tells me that they are not nearly so sure about their "scientific" claims that nothing bad is going to happen.
