I am sorry Geoff, I disagree. I live in a democracy, I have freedom within the laws of that Democracy to do as I please. My freedom was paid for in blood, was paid for by every generation except mine with blood, and will be paid for again in blood when Islam attacks. In the Meantime we have empowered people with weapons to protect us, and look after us, but they carry weapons and often are called upon to use them or fall to the weapons of others.

Israel is also a democracy, it's swords are always close. Democracies live by the sword, but it is simply a different way of the sword, we don't use it with great abandon on each other.

It is only by the sword that we survive islam.
"Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword!" We just don't require obedience.
