Has anybody got any model runs from 10 years ago that can be checked against empirical data? Just asking.

Also, I noticed that 1995 - 2004 temp rises seemed very concentrated in the old USSR. I read somewhere on SI that Siberian towns under the USSR had a strong incentive to underreport their temps as it increased their fuel subsidies. Would you happen to know how climatologists verify modern temp data to eliminate such political effects, or the effects of urbanization on temp reporting?
