One message is, of course, that there is a double standard for speech. That's not about racism, but about white people understanding that some black speech is off limits to them. If they use it, even though they are NOT racist, they will be called racist.

The second message is the one you and I see, but which the predominantly male commentators on this seem to me missing- and that is that much of the "entertainment" in this country has really negative messages about women. You need only go to a horror movie, or watch a music video to see these messages- but people really ought to be more cognizant of what they are seeing. You would think that Imus calling some women "ho's" simply because they happen to be women would be a sort of wake up call- but no, it all gets lost in the black/white crap. This isn't racism, but there sure as hell is a component of sexism.
