The couldn't do an IPO. They would have to reveal too much in the prospectus.

Even though it's unethical, no one will really raise a fuss for the lies they told about Franklin Chiang's background in a press release, since it is still a privately held company.

It's quite a different story if they publish those same lies in a prospectus...it then becomes a crime.
