Composite Technology Announces ACCC Conductor Polynomials Are Now Available on PLS-CADD'S Website

IRVINE, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Composite Technology Corporation (CTC) (OTC Bulletin Board: CPTC - News) announced today that its subsidiary, CTC Cable has arranged for its ACCC conductor's revised design polynomials to be installed in the Power Line System's on-line polynomial library located on the PLS CADD website. These important design polynomials are used by electrical transmission engineers to calculate mechanical loads and design power transmission lines. Recent review of empirical test data for all of the primary sizes of the ACCC conductor has enabled refinements to be made to the PLS CADD -- ACCC conductor polynomials, such that under very extreme and heavy load conditions there is greater accuracy in the calculated sag and tension values. This refinement does not impact previous calculations performed under normal load conditions, but has enabled improved accuracy for calculating very high tensions, as would be encountered in very long span river crossing applications or under extreme ice load conditions.

This significant accomplishment was the result of collaboration between Power Line Systems, POWER Engineers, and CTC Cable Corporation. Peter Catchpole, Project Engineer at POWER Engineers Inc., who spearheaded the initiative, said: "This effort helped dispel rumors that the ACCC conductor could not be used for long span applications or for long spans subjected to heavy ice load conditions. The actual calculations confirm quite the contrary. While the ACCC composite core exhibits greater flexibility under heavy loading compared to steel core conductors, the revised polynomials now allow us to more accurately assess and apply the ACCC conductor to long span and heavy ice load applications."

Steve Weber, Power Line Systems VP said: "The extensive testing and evaluation performed by CTC and Mr. Catchpole, which lead to the ACCC conductor polynomial refinement, has allowed us to include the ACCC conductor polynomial files for download on our website. This will enable PLS CADD users to have easy access to these valuable conductor data files and to use them with confidence."
