However, if you look at the model projections going forward they show that as well. Two reasons off the top of my head 1) Northern hemisphere, 2) Middle of large land mass. Those maps also show northern Canada/Alaska looking similar.

But they don't show it for the USA, which is at the same latitude as much of the former USSR.

When climate models start recognizing political boundaries, I start to smell a rat in the data quality.
