"On top of that, their WCDMA handsets skew towards the high-end, with smartphones and multimedia handsets heavily represented in their sales. In contrast, Qualcomm's WCDMA handset customers have generally done well on the low-end of the WCDMA market with mid-tier clamshells and sliders (HTC is the exception)."

If I read that right NOK is doing okay in high end and therefore low volume but high margin devices where there is plenty of room to fit various chips while Q's customers are going after the mid market, high volume, space constrained, and lower margin business. I think Q is right where they need to be and that NOK looks like a fool when they talk about costing consumers more because of patents. Sounds to me like NOK is over in the shallow end of the pool all the while crying to whoever will listen about the other kids doing whatever they will in the deep end. Remember the mantra, integration, integration, integration. Part of what NOK may fear is Q integrated chips moving into the higher end quicker than they can move their offerings into the mid tier. They have a lot to do before now and 12/31/08.
