I am not sure what you mean about "letting" themselves be objectified. What can the normal woman do about the sad Anna Nicole's of the world? And how can we change men who are threatened by a very strong and bright woman? I was just reading about Imus's song attacking Hilary. Women seem to be attacked either because they are bimbos, or because they are too smart and NOT beautiful. We can't seem to win!

It's a conundrum, since nature, as well as society, dictates that we make ourselves as attractive as possible to the opposite sex. But we are rational beings who should be able to restrain ourselves from judging on these things- or at least openly commenting.

I was saddened by a derogatory post showing homely women the other day- I think it was adding Nancy Pelosi to the list of (mostly liberal) women and it showed many influential women at their absolute worst. Hillary, Janet Reno, Streisand, Abzug- strong, smart women. Criticize them for their politics, but leave their looks out of it.
