"... these kids were kicked out of school(an ivy league type) lost their scholarship and it cost them 100,000s in Lawyer fees..." The costs they've encountered so far aren't the half of it. They will never be able to get a government security clearance because of their arrest record. They'll never be able to get a sensitive job, even in the private sector. They won't be able to buy a large liability insurance policy. Etc, etc. It isn't over for those three kids.
