Yes, I think that is good news also by avoiding a replacement at this time. I think one knows their limitations when a problem arises and can deal with it smartly, as you say.

I too have a high tolerance to pain and when a dental problem arises I have it repaired without deadening. My dentist sometimes tries to convince me to have it, but if there is any pain it only lasts for a second or two and I can handle that rather than having my whole jaw dead for hours and hours. He tells me it might not hurt me, but it hurts him to even think about having a root canal without deadening. I know it is easier for me to do without it and walk out of the dentist office feeling like nothing was ever wrong and go have a nice meal later. I am very susceptible to anaesthetics and even with a low dosage I get the same results of a full dose. I too am labeled as a "tough old bird" by him. I wear it with a smile.
