BONZ was touted today on cnbc.......sounds like a good niche..lots of aging boomers and their parents want to save their teeth and have receeding gums and bone or need orthopedic surgery and need some bone to fill in those hard to get to places....far superior, so it is said, than cadaver or patients own bone which can be costly and cause infection..company has no long term debt and is actually making money (4 cents last Q)..
Interpore Intl Shrs -2: Co. Expected To Grow Very Rapidly
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of Interpore International (BONZ) soared 29% after positive comments were made about the company on CNBC Thursday afternoon, according to analysts and company officials.
"We love Interpore International," David Alger, chief investment officer of Fred Alger Management, told CNBC Thursday, according to a transcript of the broadcast.
"They've come up with artificial bone material for use in surgery," Alger said. "This is a terrific product, and we think the company is going to grow very rapidly from it."
The biotechnology company, based in Irvine, Calif., makes the synthetic bone material, known as Pro Osteon, from nondecorative sea coral.
Robin Young, an analyst at Stephens Inc., who recently recommended the stock, said he has been on the road for the past several weeks recommending the stock because of the technology.
Shares closed Thursday up 2 7/16, or 29.1%, at 10 13/16 on Nasdaq volume of 1.8 million shares, compared with average daily volume of 90,200 shares. Earlier, the stock set a 52-week high of 11 3/8. The previous high of 9 was set Tuesday.
