HOLDOUTS LIST UPDATE / DRAFTING STRATEGY

Here are some of the holdouts and/or players that are not playing for their teams due to contract disputes and/or free agents. Please respond with any additions
or updates you are aware of:

Mogilny VAN
Federov DET
Bondra WAS
Alfredsson OTT
Kariya ANA
Nedved PIT
Tverdovsky PHX

Some of these elite players could be back within the week. Some, like Nedved or Alfredsson, might sit a couple of months or more.

My strategy on holdouts is to avoid them for at least the first couple of rounds. If any of the big name h/o are avail. in 3rd+ rounds then start to take a look at them. It's just like stocks - I try to pick players (stocks) with attractive risk/reward ratios and great breakthrough potential. Also like stocks it's not so much the player (stock) but when you draft (buy) them that determines your ultimate success. Just because you really like Jeff Friessen and think he's going to have a great year is no reason to select him late in round 1 or early round 2. But to the entrant that waits for him in the 3-5 rounds you've got yourself a great pick with lots of upward potential compared to the other draftees picks in that round.
