By the way, I think American cars and trucks are somehow
severely underrated by Edmunds and others, which contributes
to folks buying Japanese cars. The Japanese holding Yen
artificially at 120Y=1$ surely contributed to the popularity
of toyotas, hondas, nissans, etc. Chinese stuff sold at
Wallmart is mostly low-quality junk.
This "globalization" has led to
Chinese engines in some GM vehicles (Chevy Equinox, for
example), cause this is the only way these companies
can manufacture and sell cars at a profit. I would never buy
a GM car with Chinese Engine in it. Cheap nissans and VWs are
assembled in Mexico as well, and are a lot junkier than
American cars made in the USA (the cheap ones are assembled
in Mexico as well!).
American trucks are surely the best in the World. I'll buy
one for my next vehicle. Right now you can buy one for a lot
less than a honda civic, for example, due to high factory
rebates on those. I care that it would be fully made in USA,
though. Some are, but you have to look carefully (Chevy
Equinox is an example - it is made in USA, but has a Chinese
Engine)
The engines are powerful and very reliable.
Not to mention that the trucks themselves are much
better than these overpriced foreign cheap cars!
