Now Tom Delay wants Rosie taken down. "If the Left Takes Imus, We’ll Take Rosie."
Well, good luck.
One good thing about all this is that it demonstrates where the power is: the pocketbook. In the end, Imus was removed from power purely for financial reasons. Jesse, Sharpton, and Co threatened to hit CBS where it hurts -- in the pocketbook.
And this is as it should be. It beats the hell out of trying to regulate these things legislatively.
But good luck trying to do the same with Rosie. Conservatives don't seem to get it. I stopped watching CBS a few years ago when I finally got fed up with their politics. I also stopped reading the NYT, Newsweek, et al.
But most conservatives simply can't do this. They're like "easy outs" in baseball who can't hit the high fastball, but can't lay off them, either. They cry and moan about CBS, NYT, et all, but can't stay away from them, can't boycott them, can't stop whining about them, can't hit them where it really hurts.
Rosie's in no danger as long as she keeps delivering the numbers, and conservatives seem happy to help her. |
