So, the government should do nothing to enforce safe behaviors? If someone, even a kid, is stupid enough or uninformed enough to ride in a car without wearing a seat belt, we should just say "tough shit for them"?

The government, under the instruction of our elected representatives, enforces all sorts of safety regulations. Shall we do away with them all in the name of "FREEDOM"?

Now, I'll admit, part of me says "natural selection", but is the freedom to be a moron really a meaningful freedom? Or is it reasonable, simply because the morons who don't die might require expensive medical care, to say that everyone needs to wear a seat belt?

Maybe you'll understand this. If a law was passed that said it was illegal to jump off of buildings over 30 feet tall, would you be as concerned about people's freedom as you are over seatbelt laws?
