The plan, in a nutshell, is to get out and let the Iraqis take care of themselves. I thought that was a big Republican mantra - self reliance?

If the Iraqis really want freedom, it's THEIR turn to fight for it. Only after taking the full responsibility for their own lives, without either us or Saddam, can they begin on the road to democracy.

The longer we stand, the more we delay this awakening, and the stronger the outside influences become.

Bush has already thrown away any chance at what you perceive as 'victory'. Bush's blunders cannot be undone with a magic wand. What he attempted to achieve - a stable and friendly democracy in Iraq - is now unachievable, at least for the coming years. Maybe, one day, Iraqis will see the benefits of fighting and dying for their own freedom, and that goal might be achieved.

But, Bush has already blown it. Time to salvage what we can and try to undo the years of damage that Bush has done.
