OFF TOPIC: A note for all lurkers and other denizens...

I've been thinking about something this morning...a couple of things which are bothering me a little... BTW, I picked you to answer to, but this is really just an open letter for all on the thread (as are all, I suppose)... (-:
The first point has to do with the fact that there are now two Winspear threads where one was probably more than sufficient. When thread # 2 started up, I thought that it was supposed to be for facts and no hype... but that hasn't really materialized or remained the case. Thus, it seems to me that there is no real reason to have more than one thread as it creates confusion as people attempt to participate in both... and occasionally meaning becomes lost or skewed... A few of us on some other threads call this "cross-threading" and are very often quite amused by the misunderstandings which ensue... and indeed they are quite funny when they occur on Coffee Shop threads, but they are decidedly less so on threads concerning a company and its stock.
The second point is the discussion of shorting and flipping stocks... and I admit freely that am as guilty as any of having been drawn into this "conversation"... in part, because it is a pretty interesting subject. But when I think about this in the context of the WSP thread, I begin to think that if people are actually interested in discussing the finer points of shorting, they might do better to visit any one of a number of very good threads which exist on short selling, day-trading, trading in and out for profit, covered calls and other topics which exist in the general category of "Technical and Trading" on SI... for the following reason...
This thread is read by a rather large number of lurkers (HELLO LURKERS!!!).... believe me, I know this for certain. It should be quite obvious to anyone who visits Diamond Willie's Lair as the page counter usually jumps by an easy 50 to 75 hits within a space of 3 or 4 hours every time a new cartoon goes up... Therefore, we know that there are far more people reading this thread than the little handful of "regulars" who chatter and bat ideas around here. In the interest of all of these "non-participants", it is probably better no to be discussing the finer points of shorting on a thread pertaining to a particular mining company. I'm quite sure that most people can see that this this type of discussion probably doesn't instill a great deal of confidence in the particular company being discussed on the same thread....
Well, I have had my say on this matter... Undoubtedly I will be flamed for having an opinion... (not by Walt of course!!).... Ho-Hum, being flamed is such a "bore"....
Now, a final note to all lurkers on this thread. If you are a "newbie" to this whole SI thing, I hope that you take all of the positive and negative things that you read on this and other threads, add them together, divide by 100, and subtract 99%... That is about as much attention as one should pay to more than half of what you read... Make your decisions based on your own research... and not on the "knowledgeable opinions" of any person who posts on a thread... And if you are an "oldbie" like myself, I hope that you already know the above by now... If not, shame on you...
